Road Test Tuesday: Skip Hop and OXO Tot from Bambini Pronto + an exclusive offer (oooh)!

This year we have big plans for Honey, You Baked! We’re hoping to bring you some great offers and share some of our favourite things with you. So we’re starting Road Test Tuesdays! Today is the first one. They wont be every week, just when we have things we’d like to share, but we also didn’t want to take away from our ‘regular programming’…

I’m sure many of you have heard of or used the Bambini Pronto site before. I’ve purchased from it many times, for baby shower gifts, sleeping bags for my children, feeding products, toys and so many more things. Their delivery charges are less than many online stores charge (packages under 5kg are $5 for standard shipping and $8 for express), which means I can shop there more often (surely)! When their glossy big catalogue arrives in our letterbox (it’s like a magazine) it’s cause for much excitement and a cup of tea and some chocolate (any excuse) whilst I look through it. They have a massive range of Australian and International baby products with many of my favourite brands. It’s a site that I know and trust, so when I was offered the opportunity to road test some of their product range I jumped at the chance!

When the package arrived it was like Christmas – look how the lunchie and the feeding products colour co-ordinate – remember, I ❤ Orange – LOVE!

Skip Hop Zoo lunchie penguin

With Summer well under way, an insulated insulated lunch bag that we could take out and about had been high on our agenda, and the Skip Hop range is just adorable!  It’s also really functional. The handle at the top has a clip so you can attach it to any bag, pram handle, or hang it from a hook when you get home from school/work/outings ready to go for next time. The zip opens right around so you can fully open the bag up for easy access and packing. It has a handy little mesh pocket on the inside of the lid/flap which nicely fits museli bars/rusks and small packets. There is a name tag as well so the cute little animals can find their way home if they get lost or left behind. I must admit, I also steal it to take my lunch to work and I’ve had so many people at work ask me about it!

It is deceiving how much you can fit in these. I fit the decor containers with the sections in them, as well as a bobble drink bottle and squeezie yoghurt on top. There is still plenty of room.

I was so impressed  with the quality and cuteness of the Skip Hop products, I purchased a cat lunchie for Miss E as well as the matching cat backpack and matching Penguin backpack for Master O – so he doesn’t miss out either! This is the backpack (with clipped on lunchie) in action at the park with Miss E.

I’ve also been equally impressed with the OXO tot range of products that we road-tested. They are BPA/PVC free which is really important to me and are dishwasher safe (top rack) which I really love!

OXO tot flip cup snack cup

The snack cup is a really good size, I’ve had little biscuits, grapes, strawberries and cheerios in it. It is easy for little hands to get around and the orange section around the middle is non-slip to allow them to keep hold of it. I LOVE the fact that the lid stays attached. My plastics drawer is back in a state of disarray (remember this post?)and trying to keep the snack cups and their loose lids together is a losing battle, especially when the kids leave one behind somewhere. They can’t lose the lid off this one, so I think I need to get more of these! I also like that it looks like glass, but is plastic so therefore lightweight and it’s not going to shatter when dropped, because let’s face it, if they inherit my sense of coordination, it is going to get dropped often! Master O (almost 2) is unable to open the lid on this, Miss E (4 years) can. So, for most older kids, it should be ok for lunchbox snacks.

OXO Tot bowl set

The bowl set is again, great quality. The bowl edges are thick and solid so they aren’t going to break any time soon. The bottom of it is weighted and non-slip so its harder to accidentally tip over. The sides are shaped to easily guide food out on a fork or spoon while little ones are learning to feed themselves. Of course MY favourite feature is the fact that the bowls nest – taking up less room in my messy plastics drawer! I’ve been using these quite a bit for taking my dinner and snacks to work. I only have ten minutes to wolf down dinner so the smaller bowl size means I don’t pack too much food to get through. Both Miss E and Master O are unable to remove the lids from these bowls, they seal really well (in my opinion a good thing, they can only eat the contents when I want them too!) For this reason its probably not the best inclusion in a school lunchbox, but its great for out and about with baby food, or if you are with your children and can open the lid for them.

OXO tot fork and spoon set

The fork and spoon and a great size for Master O to handle. They have a contoured, non-slip handle which again makes it easy for him to grip and the spoon is quite deep so it is so much easier for him to scoop on his cereal/yoghurt whatever he is eating without it spilling off. He likes them, and I like the fact that there is less mess to clean up. Win!
